Sheri Thompson

End of Life Doula

I realized a strong affinity for this work during the four years I spent caring for my sweet mama, beloved aunt, and my dear old dad as they all began exhibiting symptoms of dementia, Alzheimer's and old age respectively, right around the same time, Christmas of 2018.

Along with my siblings, I cared for all three of them in many of the roles one would imagine: Care Companion, facilitator of Advanced Care Directives, advocate.  I gained experience in working alongside physical therapists, nurses, ER personnel, hospital administrators and medical staff.  When it was time to bring hospice in to the home, I assisted in administration of morphine, cleaning bed and body, turning to prevent bed sores, and keeping vigil.

It was only very recently I became aware that there is actually a profession for the role I served, and wasted no time in completing two training courses: The first with Inelda.org, the second with IAP Career College.

It is my goal for Peaceful Journey Doula to be the  "go-to" source, or "road map" if you will, for my community.  If I am unable for whatever reason to meet your needs, I will gladly refer you to my network of trusted colleagues.
